We did the tour on the first day of our Tokyo trip, and it was an amazing way to get to know the city. You zoom around the entire city centre, so you get a feel of where everything is. Makes navigating much easier later on. Plus, you kind of scope out what’s interesting to you and what you want to visit in more detail. We ended up doing a food tour a few days later because of the ramen spots we saw in Shibuya haha. So, yeah, great activity for first-timers like us. And oh man, the photos! There’s a million amazing picture opportunities.
If you’re not in the best of shape and worried about cycling around Tokyo, really, you don’t have to be. My boyfriend convinced me to do the tour, and I had an amazing time. I took the e-bike, and biking took literally almost no effort. Plus, there are plenty of stops along the way, so you can stop and rest whenever you need it. I also want to shout out Atsu - he was very kind, and kept checking up on everyone throughout the entire ride. He even pointed out water fountains when he saw them. The skip-the-line tickets were also amazing. We didn’t have to wait in line very many times, but I did the tour in June - I wanted to be in the sun as little as possible.

VISIT TOKYO’S SITES
Hop onto your bike, and start pedaling! Your guide will first take you to Zojo ji Temple, a historic Buddhist temple originally founded in 1393. Its Sangedatsumon gate, built in 1622, is the oldest surviving wooden structure in Tokyo. Your next stop is Hibiya Park, a beautiful 40-acre green park. While there, you’ll see a famous old ginkgo tree! Then continue north to the Tokyo Imperial Palace, where the emperor and empress of Japan live. Cycle through the outside garden to reach Tokyo Station. This is one of Japan’s busiest and most important railway stations, and an impressive feat of modern engineering. Afterwards, revisit the past at the Ōte-mon Gate - the main gate of the historic Edo Castle. However, nowadays, only the gate remains.
SEE NATURAL AND EUROPEAN-INSPIRED LANDMARKS
After passing through the Ōte-mon Gate, you’ll cycle west and reach Chidorigafuchi. This is a lush green walkway along a 700-meter-long riverside path. If visiting in the spring, it’ll be covered in pink with blooming cherry blossoms! Then continue west to State Guest House Akasaka Palace. This structure is the official accommodation for visiting state dignitaries. Built in 1909, its style is much more European than Japanese. After that, you’ll see the gigantic New National Stadium: the site of the 2021 Summer Olympics! Continue south to the Aoyama St. Grace Cathedral, a European-style wedding venue.
CYCLE THROUGH URBAN HOTSPOTS
As your guide will explain, you’re now in the most vibrant, fashion-forward area: Cat Street! Here you’ll see Tokyo’s best-dressed individuals, and spot countless fashion and street-style shops. Then continue to another iconic landmark: Shibuya Crossing, the world’s busiest pedestrian crossing. Sometimes, 3,000 people cross during just one green light! Right next to it is a famous pop culture landmark - Tower Records Shibuya. Eight stories tall, the store is full of vinyl, CDs, cassettes, and more. Finally, end your Tokyo Bike Tour at the Bell of Peace. Located at the United Nations University in Tokyo, the bell is rung every year on September 21st. This is the International Day of Peace.
